The Lake Pyhäjärvi Area offers hikers interesting routes and trails full of classic Finnish shelters, guided outdoor adventures, the unspoilt nature of the Vaskijärvi Nature Reserve, Kurjenrahka National Park and a variety of forested and open landscapes.

Activity Holidays

Toimintaloma (Activity Holidays) is a varied holiday complex located in the ridge area of Virttaankangas, where accommodation, meeting and banquet facilities, smoke sauna, hut sauna and hot tubs are available. Toimintaloma is located in the vicinity of the Harjureitti hiking area.

Eskola Wilderness Cabins

Eskola Wilderness Cabins are situated within the vicinity of the wilds of Lake Vaskijärvi’s nature reserve and Lake Elijärvi in Yläne. The Eskola cabins have been built for travellers who appreciate nature and ecotourism. In addition, there is the possibility to order campfire coffee, catering and a smoke sauna.

Harjureitti Hiking Area

Harjureitti Hiking Area is located in the Säkylänharjun-Virttaankangas Esker area and has a choice of several trails for hikers and excellent shelters for taking a break. Along the hiking trails there are also information boards describing the nature, groundwater and geology of the area. The area is maintained by the municipalities and cities of Säkylä, Oripää, Huittinen and Loimaa.

In winter, the Harjureitti becomes a skiing track, which 14 kilometers is lit.

Harola Forest

Harola is located in the northwest corner of Lake Pyhäjärvi and is the most nature rich representative of the area’s broadleaf and mixed forests in Lake Pyhäjärvi area. In addition to Satakunta’s finest groves and nationally valuable ancient sites, there are also upland forests, bog woodland and the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi.

Kuhankuono Hiking Route

Kuhankuono Hiking Route is a network of hiking trails located in the region of Southwest Finland. There are three Kuhankuono trails in the Yläne area: The Two Lake Tour, Vaskijärvi Trail and Pirunkirkko’s Hike. In addition, there are other Kuhankuono hiking trail options in the Kurjenrahka National Park and it vicinity, such as round Lake Savojärvi.

Kurjenrahka National Park

Kurjenrahka National Park is located on the southern edge of the lake Pyhäjärvi area, bordering Pöytyä, Aura, Nousiainen, Mynämäki, Masku, Rusko and Turku. Kurjenrahka National Park is a popular hiking area and suitable for hikers of all kinds.

Lake Elijärvi Log Cabin Holidays

Elijärvi’s high quality log cabins are located in Yläne on the lake of Elijärvi and in the immediate vicinity of the extensive hiking trails in Kuhankuono. The log cabins are also suitable for meetings.

Lake Koskeljärvi Area

Koskeljärvi is the largest lake in the southwest of Finland to be free of holiday homes and an internationally valuable area for water birds, but it is also an important recreational area. Lake Koskeljärvi is surrounded by an excellent network of nature sites, shelters and hiking routes.

Lake Metsäjärvi Nature Trail

Metsäjärvi Nature Trail is located near the village of Kankaanpää, to the south-east of lake Köyliönjärvi.

The nature trail begins at the Kaarnikka Wilderness Centre. The trail winds through covered forests and eventually leads to a shelter and campfire site on lake Metsäjärvi’s shore. A map of the route can be found here.

The length of the trail is about 5.5 km but this can be shortened if you turn back at the shelter.

The starting point at road Kaarnikantie has an information board.

Nature trail of Hiittenkari

Nature trail of Hiittenkari is located on the edge of the northern end of lake Pyhäjärvi in Kauttua village. The path leads to Hiittenkari, which is half a mile in length and roughly tapers to lake Pyhäjärvi’s unique projecting ridge peninsula. (more…)

Sieravuori Outdoor Trail

In Eura’s village Honkilahti, in the scenic surroundings of lake Pyhäjarvi by rugged cliffs and forested shoreline the winding Sieravuori Outdoor Trail is perfect for a wide range of hiking and exercise activities. The lenght of the trail is about 8.1 kilometers. (more…)

Vaskijärvi Strict Nature Reserve

Vaskijärvi Strict Nature Reserve is located in Yläne on the south-west of lake Elijärvi and the surrounding area is one of the largest preserved wilderness areas in Southwest Finland.
